How soon do DNS changes take affect?
Posted by Darren Radsmith on 16 May 2004 07:06 PM

All DNS changes made within our control panel are instant changes on all global name servers assuming the registrar has been told to assign our name servers to the domain.

Resolving name servers of clients who have recently accessed your host will have the previous value of the record cached based on the TTL (time to live) and this will need to expire before your new changes go into affect. All TTL's are user defined on a per record basis in DNS Made Easy. You can always lower the TTL before updating a record and then raise it back up again.
