Wildcard Record

Wildcard Records give you the ability to map all (or a section) of the records in your domain to one IP. Wildcard records can be A, AAAA, CNAME, SRV, or HTTP Redirection Records. Any record not previously defined in your domain name with its own hostname, will resolve to the IP of the wild card. Additionally, you may want to use wildcard records if you are seeing a lot of NXDomains so you can announce a record to cache and reduce your number of queries.

1. Navigate to Managed DNS

2. Select your Domain

3. Create a Wild Card A Record

We will create a wild card A record. Under “A Records” click the plus sign to add a new record. We will add a wild card record (*) A that points to an IP address of 1.2.3.5 with a TTL of 1800 seconds. Then, click “Submit.
